Nature's Clothes Dryer

For at least the past year now, the long trend in restricting backyard clothes drying is reversing. For years, private estate subdivisions and other developments that have been approved with restrictive covenants often restrict clotheslines as indicators of, what...frugality? simplicity?, being poor? Anyway, as I commented on a few months ago, the Town of Southampton on Long Island reversed a townwide bylaw restricting clotheslines and now I see that the Town of Groton, MA has actually held a contest for innovative designs of clotheslines. Frankly, this is brilliant and to me indicates how the Groton Local, the relocalization grass roots group in that small Nashoba Valley town, constantly shows a strong creative impulse that should serve as an inspiration for other groups nationwide. You can find the Lowell Sun article here.
